I-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System Online Course (2006)
Introduction
This self-paced course is an introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS). Topics include: introduction to ICS, basic features of ICS, incident commander and command staff functions, general staff functions, facilities, and common responsibilities. It provides a foundation upon which to enable entry-level personnel to function appropriately in the performance of incident-related duties.
This course was developed in conjunction with the US Fire Administration (Q462) and the Emergency Management Institute (IS100). These courses are built on the same lesson objectives and content as the NWCG I-100 course and are interchangeable; they are all National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliant.

Students will become oriented to the Incident Command System.
Instructions
Length / Content:
This course has 6 units. You must complete each unit prior to proceeding to the next unit. Since you cannot move between units, it is a good idea to take this course in one sitting. If you exit the course for any reason, you will have to start the entire couse over.
Unit 1: Introduction to ICS
Unit 2: Basic Features of ICS
Unit 3: Incident Commander and Command Staff Functions
Unit 4: General Staff Functions
Unit 5: Facilities
Unit 6: Common Responsibilities
Final Exam
After you completed the tutorial, you will be prompted to take the final exam. The final exam consists of 30 multiple choice questions. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass. If you do not pass the final exam after three attempts, you will need to complete the entire course again, starting with Unit 1. You may retake this course as many times as necessary to pass.
Certification
Once you have passed the exam, you can print a certificate that verifies your successful completion of the course.
Note: In order for you to print the Certificate of Training, the computer you are working from must be connected to a functioning printer. If you fail to print the certificate, you will need to retake the course. Certificates or completion are not tracked or saved by this site.
Course Requirements
A course administrator that has completed the I-200 course must be available in person, by phone, or by email to assist the student during the completion of this course. The course administrator should provide certification for the student upon completion.
