S-203 Introduction to Incident Information Pre-Course Work (2007)

Introduction
Welcome to the S-203 Introduction to Incident Information pre-course work.

In this pre-course work students will familiarize themselves with basic Incident Command System (ICS) concepts. This knowledge of ICS is an essential foundation regarding incident information.

Objectives
Students will:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of basic ICS by completing test covering basic ICS concepts.
2. (Optional) Be provided with introductory information about wildland fire management.

Instructions
You are required to have a basic understanding of ICS prior to coming to class. Read the instructions below carefully.

There are two options for this pre-course work:

Option #1. If you are unfamiliar with ICS you may take the online course, I-100 Introduction to Incident Command System to gain the prerequisite knowledge required to pass the S-203 pre-course test. Upon completion of I-100, you will then return to this page and follow the instructions in Option #2 to complete the S-203 pre-course work test.

Option #2. If you are familiar with ICS, or have just taken I-100 you may go directly to the S-203 pre-course test. After completing the test you will need to print your results. You will need to bring this results page with you to class or submit it as directed by your instructor or course coordinator.

If you have never been on an incident or stayed in an incident camp, you are encouraged to watch this video.

Basic Wildland Fire Suppression Orientation is a video which provides essential information
for individuals interested in wildland fire management, and is particularly useful for indoctrination of non-fire management employees to the world of wildland fire.

The video provides information on personal preparedness and responsibility, mobilization, incident procedures, proper clothing and equipment, and living conditions in wildland fire camps.
