Java Security Setting

Description

All NWCG/NFA Online students - the installed Java plugin software on your Windows PC must always be the current version!

Java, without warning, is periodically updated as security vulnerabilities are discoverd with the older version. Java is a critical software and is used to communicate between the student's computer (client) and the NFA Online learning management system (LMS) server to track and record student progress. Without a current version of Java plugin software on your Windows PC computer, your online course progress does not track and you are not be able to access course content, take exams or receive an NWCG completion certificate.

If you do not have administrative privileges on your Windows PC, you will need to contact your IT department to request they update your Windows PC.

First, verify and install the current Java Version and update: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre

Note 1: When Java is ready to install, close all IE browsers. After Java is installed, reboot your Windows PC.

Note 2: If your PC is a 64 bit system then you need both versions of Java (32 bit and 64 bit) installed and available for use by the Internet Explorer browser.

Note 3: Due to security vulnerabilities, older versions of Java will not run and will not allow you to launch content from the LMS. The installed Java must be the current version and update as indicated by the above verifiy Java link.
