Incident Action Plan

The Incident Action Plan (IAP) is the last incident planning document that will be discussed in this section. Many agencies require, depending upon the complexity of the incident, the IC to approve a written IAP for each operational period. The IAP is revised on a regular basis (at least once per operational period) to maintain consistent and up-to-date guidance.

The information in the IAP will vary depending upon the complexity of the incident. Information that is typically in an IAP includes:
  • Incident and tactical objectives
  • Organizational and assignment lists
  • Communications plan
  • Medical plan
  • Incident maps
  • Other information as needed, such as air operations summary
