Agency Administrator Briefings

Much like the transitional briefing we just discussed, the agency administrator briefing has a format that fluctuates based on the circumstances of the event. Some of the subjects discussed during these briefings may include agency infrastructure concerns, smoke impacts to sensitive receptors, and many other elements. The questions being posed during this briefing or the Agency Administrator's concerns will vary based on the factors encountered during the fire. Think of what information the Agency Administrator needs to know and what might support his or her decisions.

Who: Your audience will be composed of agency administrators, cooperators, and other personnel.
When: It will generally occur shortly after your team has taken over the fire response.
Style: This briefing can vary from a very uniform to an informal structure.
Duration: There is no set time for this briefing, as it depends upon the central focus. Your portion of this briefing may be 2-4 minutes or longer depending on the administrators' needs.
Your Role: Provide the appropriate level of information, answer questions, attend to the administrators' needs.

Tip

Be sure that when you are addressing your audience you are talking to them on their level. As an analyst, you may have the tendency to attempt to explain how models work rather than focus on the concerns of Agency Administrators. Try to put yourself in their shoes when you are providing them with new situational and logistical information.
